Dr. Michael De La Cruz endured the rigors of rehabilitation after undergoing shoulder surgery in 2014. The process grabbed his attention, and directly influenced him to pursue physical therapy as a career. He has always been interested in the complexities of the human body and how physical therapy could be so critical for people of all ages.
As a former wrestler, powerlifter and nationally ranked Olympic weightlifter, the strength and conditioning aspects of rehab is of particular importance to Dr. Michael De La Cruz. This led him to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a certification obtained through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. It is his sincere desire to blend the disciplines of strength, conditioning, and physical therapy to provide the best experiences possible to all of his patients.
Dr. MIchael De La Cruz is a major advocate of evidence based practice and stands ready to present his research investigating shoulder manipulation, a novel technique at the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy conference in October 2022.
As a member of the Institute of Orthopedic and Sports Manual Therapy (IOSMT), Dr. Michael De La Cruz continues to work diligently to improve his clinical knowledge to provide the best treatment to his patients and clients. He is committed to completing both the Certified Neuromusculoskeletal Manual Therapist certification via IOSMT and the Certified Manual Physical Therapist certification via the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy within the next year. Within the coming years, he plans on furthering his knowledge with the goal of becoming a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and then pursuing a fellowship in orthopedic manual physical therapy.
When he is not actively treating, Dr. Michael De La Cruz spends time refining his clinical skills, reading articles, weight training, or spending time with friends and family.
